Carles Cortés (Alcoi, 1968), doctor in Catalan Philology, teaches literature at Alacant University and is a member of research groups of “Actually Literature” and “Transversals Studies”. He started his literary road as author of tales. He published the novels: Veu de dona (Columna, 2001), 25 d’April of Benissa prize (2000); Marta dibuixa ponts (Brosquil, 2003), Ciutat de Sagunt prize; Els silencis de Maria (Brosquil, 2008); Sara, la dona sense atributs, La Vall d’Albaida 2009 prize of erotic novel (Bromera, 2010). He also collaborated on the book of erotic tales Directe al gra (Brosquil, 2007), with the writers Sebastià Alzamora, Julià de Jòdar and Isabel-Clara Simó. As a dramatist, he presented for the first time the plays Veu de dona (Saineters, 2005), Fets de rei (Sa Butaca Teatre d’Alcúdia, 2008) and Silencis (Companyia Ferroviària d’Arts Escèniques, 2009). Nowadays, he collaborates in film adaptation of his novel Marta dibuixa ponts (Gnomon Produccions). As a researcher, he has published several studies about Mercè Rodoreda and others modern Catalan women writers. Thus, he is the author of anthologies about women writers like Isabel-Clara Simó, M. Mercè Roca, Carme Riera, M. Antònia Oliver or Caterina Albert. He is also the author of a biography of the painter Antoni Miró (Vull ser pintor! Ed. 3i 4, 2005).
