A book genre, which would make the glories of American queer studies, which does not surprise during their reading. Everything is predictable. The emotional appeal of the young nephew and enigmatic guy who is back with a trauma of the Vietnam War, sexual growth during adolescence, it captures the reader who may be eager to work with a happy ending and not wanting to complicate his life with weightless or distant reflections of everyday life. Anyway, the most detrimental to the valuation of the novel is the implausibility of the resolution of the final emotional relationship between the young Will Barnett-erotic in the wake of his uncle by Lance unfortunate that miraculously crosses in life adolescents.
Not surprising the structure of the novel. The writer chooses a false reality simulation, introducing elements like the hypothetical paratextual transcript of a diary of teenager found by chance. A simple technique that gives the text and the reader who catches minimally, but not just reinforce the general sense of implausibility.
It is clear that a novel like this is owed to other models of literary genre, highly developed in the American cinema queer as Harry and Max, or other films where stories arise that border (or enter directly) in incest as a way to attract the reader or viewer.
