The novel Women Without Qualities by Carlos Cortes (Alcoy, 1968) has received on Friday June 26, 2009 Erotic Literature Prize La Vall d’Albaida organized the Association of Municipalities La Vall d’Albaida in collaboration with the Editorial Bromera.

The jury, made Josep Calatayud, Maria Fullana, Urban Llauradó and Josefina Lozano, particularly appreciated the 23 manuscripts submitted, highlighting the originality of the winning novel. The prize, worth € 4,600, represents edition of the winning work in the Editorial Bromera.
This is the fourth novel published by Carlos Cortes after Voice of Women (Column, 2001), which won the April 25, Benissa (2000); Marta draw bridges (Brosquil, 2003), award city of Sagunto; The silences of Mary (Brosquil, 2008).

He also participated in the book of erotic stories to the point (Brosquil, 2007), with Sebastian Alzamora, Julià de Jodar and Isabel-Clara Simó
Synopsis
Sara decided to leave his job as an interpreter as she passed her fifties. Despite the professional recognition needed to give a change of direction in his life. An ad in the newspaper precipitated this decision. For five years living a troubled relationship, passions, desires and dreams, a young university student who is prostituted to pay for their studies. Therefore has started a relationship that has been characterized by the violation of human and social boundaries in search of a happiness not yet achieved. Women Without Qualities is a novel to be read without interruption, with a predisposition to feel the excitement and pleasure they get to their desired Sara Gabriel. It is a text that shows the reader to reflect on the concept of human feelings and their evolution. Carlos Cortes fulls well the psychological portrait of the female protagonists of his previous three novels. On this occasion, the writer discusses the doubts and hesitations of women facing a new stage marked by maturity. All resuming the second narrative voice that characterized the last novel, Cortes psychological constructs Sara identity with the artistic side of the work of Robert Musil, The Man Without Qualities (1880-1942), and the songs of Édith Piaf French interpreter that accompany the chapters of the novel. “Women Without Qualities is a novel for readers uncomfortable, as their reading provokes contradictory feelings like pleasure and pain in the same scene. Obviously I wanted the excitement of the reader, since it is an erotic novel, but I have also tried to contribute to its deliberations; move your consciousness. Why did I do? Maybe because this is my most personal novel, in which he fled stylistic conventions and I have focused on the strength of human passions. Loving, hate, desire, experience, enjoy, and many other actions are possible in a single story like this. I built a portrait of women in their fifties, full of hope and hypocrisy, of a pioneering generation of women’s social transformation that still receive the ballast of tradition manhood.”
